The IPL organising committee pulled off another overnight surprise by deciding to add 19 more players to the one-day extravaganza slated to be held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. It is the third change that the IPL had made over the course of the week, which had initially unveiled a 350-player shortlist for 77 spots left across the 10 franchises.
The organisers had previously added nine names to the player pool, which included Tripura all-rounder Manisankar Murasingh, Swastik Chikara, and South African Eathan Bosch. The names were recalled shortly thereafter, before making a return late last night, the additions approved by the BCCI.
Among the prominent names in the latest inclusions is Bengal captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, who had a breakthrough Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season as a T20 batter, after having long been regarded for the First-Class game that has elevated him to the India Test side on several occasions over the last three years.
The updated list also includes six overseas players, including Eathan, the brother of South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch, at a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Interestingly, Malaysia batter Virandeep Singh has also been included at a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Australia’s Chris Green, South Africa wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne, Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand’s Ben Sears are the other overseas names.
Among the Indian players, the most notable addition is Abhimanyu Easwaran, the Bengal captain, who has been assigned a base price of ₹30 lakh. Easwaran has consistently performed in domestic cricket and is often regarded as a potential future India international, making him an attractive pick for teams looking to bolster their batting lineup.
Several foreign players have also been added to the list. Kyle Verreynne from South Africa will enter the auction at ₹1.25 crore, while New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears, priced at ₹1.50 crore, emerges as one of the most expensive late entries. Other international names include Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani, South Africa’s Ethan Bosch, and Australia’s Chris Green, all listed at ₹75 lakh. Virandeep Singh from Malaysia joins at a base price of ₹30 lakh.
The remaining additions consist mainly of promising Indian domestic players. These include Manisankar Murasingh (Tripura), Swastik Chikara (Uttar Pradesh), Chama Milind (Hyderabad), K.L. Shrijith (Karnataka), Rahul Raj Namala (Chhattisgarh), Virat Singh (Jharkhand), Tripuresh Singh (Madhya Pradesh), Rajesh Mohanty (Odisha), Swastik Samal (Odisha), Saransh Jain (Madhya Pradesh), Sooraj Sangaraju (Andhra), and Tanmay Agarwal (Hyderabad), each set at a base price of ₹30 lakh.
These late additions expand the talent pool available to franchises, providing teams with more options across batting, bowling, and all-around skills. The mix of domestic and international players ensures that franchises can target emerging talent as well as seasoned performers to create balanced squads.
