The Kerala Cricket League T20 is heating up as the semifinals approach today, with the Kollam Sailors and Thrissur Titans set to face each other once again after their recent encounter. In a thrilling dress rehearsal on Monday, the Sailors triumphed over the Titans by six wickets, boosting their confidence ahead of the crucial semifinal match. The final league match, held in Thiruvananthapuram, saw the Titans post a competitive 178/7 in their 20 overs, powered by Vishnu Vinod’s impressive 62 runs, along with valuable contributions from Ahamed Imran (38) and Varun Nayanar (26).
However, the Sailors’ chase was well-paced, with Sharafuddeen NM leading the charge with a blistering unbeaten 46 off just 18 balls, supported by Arjun A’s 40 runs and contributions from Abhishek Nair (30) and Vathsal Govind (27*). The Sailors reached their target of 179/4 in 19.1 overs, cementing their position at the top of the league table with 16 points.
As the league phase concluded, the Calicut Globstars secured second place with 14 points, while the Trivandrum Royals and Thrissur Titans took third and fourth places with 10 and 8 points, respectively.
The semifinals promise to deliver high-stakes cricket action. Calicut Globstars will face Trivandrum Royals at 2.30 pm in the first semifinal, while the Sailors and Titans will clash again in the second semifinal at 6.45 pm.
