Khel Ratna and Arjuna Award Honors for India’s Sporting Champions

India has announced the winners of the prestigious Major Dyan Chand Khel Ratna award, the highest sporting honor in the country, for 2024. The winners include double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, world chess champion D. Gukesh, Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh, and Paralympian Praveen Kumar. Despite initial controversy surrounding Manu Bhaker’s exclusion from the nomination list for the Khel Ratna award, the Ministry clarified that all nominations were thoroughly reviewed before the final announcement.
