Rajasthan Royals Crash Out of IPL Playoffs After Crushing Defeat to Mumbai Indians

A 100-run loss ends Rajasthan’s IPL 2025 journey as Mumbai climbs to the top of the points table with dominant performance

The Rajasthan Royals have been knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoff race following a massive 100-run defeat at the hands of the Mumbai Indians in a crucial league match. Chasing a daunting target of 218 runs, Rajasthan faltered under pressure and were bowled out for just 117 runs, marking a disappointing end to their campaign.

Mumbai posted an imposing 217/2 while batting first, powered by half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Riyan Rickelton, who laid the foundation for a commanding total. Rajasthan’s chase began poorly, losing opener Vaibhav, the hero of their previous match, in the very first over. Though Yashasvi Jaiswal briefly reignited hope by smashing two consecutive sixes off Trent Boult, he was dismissed on the next ball after scoring 13 runs, reducing Rajasthan to 18/2.

Mumbai’s bowlers capitalized on the early breakthroughs. Karan Sharma and Trent Boult claimed three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah added two more to dismantle Rajasthan’s batting lineup. The Royals never recovered from the early blows and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

With this comprehensive win — their seventh of the season — Mumbai Indians surged to the top of the points table, solidifying their position in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s inconsistency and lack of resilience under pressure brought an abrupt end to their title hopes.
