The second T20 match, held last night, saw UAE chase down a challenging target of 206 runs, achieving the win in 19.5 overs with just two wickets in hand.
Bangladesh batted first after losing the toss and posted a formidable total of 205/5 in 20 overs. Openers Tanzid Hasan and captain Liton Das provided a solid foundation with a 90-run stand. Tanzid made an aggressive 59 off 33 balls, while Liton scored 40 off 32. Contributions from Najmul Hossain Shanto (27 off 19) and Tauhid Hridoy (45 off 24) added momentum to the innings. A late flourish from Jakhar Ali, who smashed 18 runs from just six deliveries, pushed Bangladesh past the 200-mark. UAE bowlers Mohammad Javed and Mohammad Zakir Khan were impressive, taking three and two wickets respectively.
UAE’s chase was spearheaded by captain Mohammad Wasim, who scored a commanding 82 off 42 balls, featuring nine fours and five sixes. Sohaib Khan added crucial support with 38 runs from 34 balls, and their 107-run opening stand laid the groundwork for the chase. Despite losing wickets regularly after Sohaib’s dismissal, UAE managed to hold their nerve. Small yet significant contributions from Asif Khan (19), Alishan Sharaf (13), Dhruv Parashar (11), and a match-finishing unbeaten 15 off 6 balls by Haider Ali ensured a dramatic win in the final over.
On the bowling side for Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam, Nahid Rana, and Rishad Hossain each claimed two wickets. The series now stands evenly poised at 1-1, with the decisive final match scheduled for tomorrow.
