All-rounder Washington Sundar has been named in India’s squad for the second and third Tests against New Zealand, further boosting the team’s options. Sundar, who recently impressed with a stellar knock of 152 in Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy match against Delhi, will join the Indian team ahead of the second Test, scheduled to begin on October 24 in Pune.
His inclusion comes after a series of impressive domestic performances and provides India with a versatile option in both batting and bowling departments. Sundar’s ability to contribute with the bat and his effective off-spin will be a valuable asset for India in the remainder of the Test series. This decision also adds depth to India’s spin attack, which already includes Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
India’s updated squad for the second and third Tests features a mix of experienced players and promising talents. Led by Rohit Sharma, with Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain, the team includes the likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul, alongside young stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan. Wicketkeeping duties will be shared between Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.
India’s bowling lineup is bolstered by pacers like Mohd. Siraj and Akash Deep, along with a strong spin department, making the team well-rounded for the upcoming contests against New Zealand.
