At just 27 years old, Leavitt sets a new record as the youngest individual to hold this position, surpassing Ronald Ziegler, who was 29 when appointed during Richard Nixon’s presidency in 1969.
Trump praised Leavitt’s capabilities in a statement, calling her a “smart, tough, and highly effective communicator” who excelled as the National Press Secretary during his campaign. Leavitt, a native of New Hampshire, has earned a reputation as a staunch advocate for Trump and an articulate defender of his policies during media appearances.
Leavitt brings significant experience to the role. She previously served in the White House press office during Trump’s first term and worked as communications director for Republican Rep.
