A New Zealand diplomat was reportedly attacked and robbed at his residence in Paris, according to officials from Wellington. The diplomat, a 34-year-old staff member of the New Zealand Embassy, was assaulted by two men who broke into his apartment in the affluent seventh arrondissement, an area known for landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower. The attackers allegedly tied him up, struck him with a gun, and stole various items before fleeing in a vehicle with stolen license plates.
New Zealand’s foreign ministry confirmed the “security incident” involving their embassy staff member, stating that the embassy is providing support to the individual and cooperating with French authorities.
