11 Arrested for Alleged Espionage for Pakistan Across Three Indian States

YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Among Those Detained for Suspected Ties with Pakistani Agents

New Delhi: In a major crackdown on suspected espionage activities linked to Pakistan, 11 individuals have been arrested over the past three days from the Indian states of Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. These arrests follow investigations launched after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which intensified scrutiny of potential spy networks operating within the country.

Among those arrested is Jyoti Malhotra, a well-known travel vlogger from Hisar, Haryana, who runs the popular YouTube channel Travel With Jo, boasting over 385,000 subscribers. Her arrest has drawn widespread attention due to her prominent online presence. According to reports, Malhotra allegedly maintained contact with Danish, a staff member of the Pakistan High Commission, who was recently expelled by Indian authorities. While she reportedly did not have direct access to any classified defense information, her frequent visits to Pakistan and Kashmir have raised suspicions. She had reportedly visited Pakistan in 2023, 2024, and March 2025.

The investigation is also focusing on whether Malhotra’s travel content was influenced or directed to include specific locations or subjects of strategic interest. The accused reportedly leaked sensitive information, and the group includes a security official, an app developer, students, and civilians.

Authorities are closely analyzing all contacts and activities of the suspects, especially in light of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The incident underscores the growing challenge of digital platforms being used for covert operations and the importance of vigilance in protecting national security.
