A devastating missile attack launched by Russia across Ukraine has resulted in tragedy, particularly in Kyiv, where a children’s hospital was destroyed, claiming the lives of more than thirty-seven people. The assault, condemned internationally, saw volunteers and rescue workers urgently searching for survivors amidst the rubble of the Okhmatdyt pediatric hospital.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Russia targeted multiple cities including Kyiv with dozens of missiles on Monday, resulting in casualties including three children and leaving 170 injured. Nearly 100 buildings, including schools and a maternity hospital, sustained damage, with Ukraine’s air force intercepting 30 projectiles.
The international community has strongly condemned the attacks, with calls for urgent action at a NATO summit to bolster Ukraine’s air defenses. US President Joe Biden promised new measures to protect Ukrainian cities from further Russian strikes, while the UN and several nations labeled the targeting of medical facilities and civilian areas as abhorrent and barbaric.
