Rockstar Games has officially postponed the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) to May 26, 2026, sparking a wave of mixed emotions across the gaming community. The announcement, made via the company’s social media channels, included an apology for the delay and a message of gratitude for fans’ ongoing support.
“We know this comes later than expected,” Rockstar said. “The enthusiasm around GTA 6 has been incredibly humbling. Thank you for your patience as we work to deliver the best game possible.”
While the delay wasn’t entirely unexpected—given the scale of the project and Rockstar’s reputation for perfectionism—the confirmation still stirred a strong online reaction. Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) became a hub for fan commentary, ranging from humorous memes to serious critiques.
One fan, clearly frustrated, wrote, “If you’re going to delay it, at least show us more footage.” Meanwhile, Domino’s Pizza UK jumped in with wit, posting: “Call us if you need help delivering.” Other users shared memes, including AI-generated images of elderly gamers waiting for launch, underscoring how long fans have already waited.
Still, many took the delay in stride. “We waited 12 years, we can wait a little longer,” one fan tweeted. Another added, “I’d rather wait than get a broken game. Take your time.”
In the midst of the announcement, pricing rumours also surfaced. According to reports, the standard edition of GTA 6 could be priced around ₹5,999 in India, with special editions potentially reaching ₹7,299—a noticeable jump from past titles, reflecting rising development costs and expectations for next-gen features.
Though fans are split in their reactions, most seem united in one hope: that the extra time will allow Rockstar to deliver a polished, groundbreaking installment worthy of the GTA legacy. The company also teased that more information will be revealed soon, heightening anticipation for gameplay trailers or additional content previews in the coming months.
