Gulf Country Tourism Sector Offers Thousands of Job Opportunities

The travel and tourism industry in the UAE, a significant contributor to the economy, is expected to generate 23,500 job openings by 2024, according to Julia Simpson, president of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Projections by the WTTC indicate that this sector will represent 12 percent of the UAE’s GDP, amounting to 236 billion dirhams. Simpson further anticipates a substantial increase in employment within the travel and tourism sector, with projections indicating a workforce of 928,000 individuals by 2034, including an additional 95,000 jobs between 2024 and 2034.

Simpson highlights the sector’s robust growth in the previous year, which resulted in the creation of 41,000 jobs, solidifying its status as one of the country’s top nine professions. Speaking to Gulf media, Simpson expresses optimism regarding the future of the tourism industry, emphasizing its resilience in recovering from the impacts of the Covid pandemic and its potential for further expansion.
