Argentina’s National Football Team to Kickstart Friendly Matches in Kerala from October 25, 2025

Friendly matches featuring Argentina’s national football team are anticipated to commence in Kerala from October 25, 2025, according to recent reports. The series is expected to include three matches, with efforts to host one of them at the newly constructed stadium in Payyanad, Malappuram. The matches’ venues in other cities across the state are also under consideration.

Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman stated that the government is contemplating hosting one of the matches at the Payyanad stadium, currently under construction. The objective is to ensure that the event does not impose a financial burden on the Kerala government, with plans to raise funds through sponsorships, ticket sales, and television rights. The estimated budget for the entire event is set at Rs 100 crores.

The organizers intend to engage in discussions with members of the Argentine Football Association to finalize details about the event. Football experts from Argentina are expected to assist the Kerala government in its ‘Goal Project’ starting this year. The state government is investing Rs 75 crores from the KIIFB funds to build a high-class stadium in Payyanad that will meet FIFA standards. Once completed, the existing stadium in the region will be repurposed for training purposes.
