Cricketer Sreesanth Denies Extortion Allegations, Plans Legal Action

Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has vehemently denied allegations of extortion, responding to a complaint accusing him of promising to construct a villa in Karnataka and not delivering. Sreesanth dismissed the complaint as baseless, emphasizing that he had not even seen the complainant before. The former India cricketer asserted his intention to take legal action against what he termed as fake allegations.

The police recently registered a case against Sreesanth following a complaint lodged by Kannapuram resident Sareeg Balagoplan at the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate’s court. The complaint, dating back to 2019, alleged that individuals from Uduppi, Rajeev Kumar, and K Venkatesh Kini, received Rs 18,70,00 from Sareeg with the promise of constructing a villa on five cents of land. However, the villa was not delivered as promised.

When approached, the accused allegedly informed the complainant that he would be included in a cricket project initiated by Sreesanth on the promised land. Subsequently, Sreesanth met with the complainant and assured him a villa as part of the project. However, Sareeg claimed that Sreesanth reneged on the promise, leading him to approach the police. Sreesanth is identified as the third accused in the case, with Rajeev Kumar and Venkatesh Kini as the first two accused.
