PM Sreenath Namboodiri Chosen as New Head Priest of Guruvayur Temple

The new head priest (melsanthi) of Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple has been selected as PM Sreenath Namboodiri, aged 31, hailing from Thekke Vavannur Pottakkuzhi Mana. He is set to assume the role for a six-month term starting from October 1.

Sreenath Namboodiri is the son of Thantraratnam Narayanan Namboodiri, who previously held the position of head priest at the temple in 2003, and Anitha Antharjanam from Kaippilly Mana. He is married to Kavya from Irinjalakuda Ekkattu Mana.

With Sreenath Namboodiri’s appointment, the Pottakkuzhi Mana family has witnessed three generations taking up the prestigious role of serving as the head priest at Guruvayur. His grandfather, Neelakantan Namboodiri, and father, Narayanan Namboodiri, previously held the position in 1968 and 2003, respectively. Additionally, Narayanan Namboodiri’s brothers, Divakaran Namboodiri and Krishnan Namboodiri, also served as head priests in 2004 and 2010, respectively.
