Telecom Triumph: Kerala Secures Second Spot in Phone Usage, TRAI Data Reveals

Kerala has secured the second position in terms of telephone and mobile phone usage, according to the latest data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). As of October 2023, the state has a phone ratio of 121.89 phones per 100 people. Leading the rankings is Delhi, with a significantly higher ratio of 276.79 phones per 100 people. The data further highlights the disparity between urban and rural phone usage, with urban areas recording 133.45 phones per 100 people, while rural areas have 58.11 phones per 100 people. The statistics provide insights into the widespread adoption of telecommunication services in different regions of the country.

Additionally, the TRAI data reveals that a substantial number of phone numbers, precisely 90.28 crore, have been ported from one service provider to another. This indicates a significant level of mobility and flexibility among users in choosing their telecom service providers. In the broadband segment, Reliance Jio dominates with a share of 50.05 percent, followed by Bharti Airtel at 29.07 percent, Vodafone-Idea at 14.15 percent, and BSNL at 2.83 percent, indicating the competitive landscape in the broadband market.
