Malayalam Director Unni Aranmula Passes Away at 77

Director Unni Aranmula, renowned for his contributions to Malayalam cinema with movies like ‘Ethirppukal’ (1984) and ‘Swargam’ (1987), has passed away at the age of 77. His demise occurred on Wednesday night following an episode of physical discomfort while he was staying at a lodge in Chengannur. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his condition later that night.

Unni Aranmula played a significant role in shaping the Malayalam film industry, with notable personalities like actor Urvashi making their debut under his direction in ‘Ethirppukal.’ Hailing from Edayaranmula, Unni showcased his diverse talents by also contributing as a lyricist for 14 films. His final project, ‘Computer Wedding,’ unfortunately remained unreleased.

Throughout his life, Unni remained unmarried, having dedicated himself to his passion for cinema after leaving his job as an officer in Defence Accounts. His legacy lives on through his impactful contributions to Malayalam cinema, leaving behind a memorable body of work that continues to inspire generations.
