Mosquitoes carries diseases which cause a host of health problems. During monsoon doctors advise people to have hygiene and avoid the accumulation of water on open surface.
Some people are more prone to mosquito bites than others, in that they attract mosquitoes more, and as a result are more troubled.
“Some people produce more of certain chemicals in their skin. And a few of those chemicals, like lactic acid, attract mosquitoes,” said Dr Jonathan Day, a medical entomologist and mosquito expert at the University of Florida.
People with blood group (O) attracts mosquitoes more than others.
“pregnant women and overweight or obese people tend to have higher resting metabolic rates, which may make them more attractive to mosquitoes” he added.
