Suzuki Achieves Milestone: 80 Million Passenger Vehicles Sold Globally

Suzuki Motor Corporation has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the sale of 80 million passenger vehicles worldwide as of August 2023. This significant accomplishment solidifies Suzuki’s position as a leading player in the global automobile industry. A pivotal contributor to this success has been Suzuki’s strong presence in key markets, particularly in India and Japan. In India, Suzuki boasts an impressive market share of 32.6%, underlining the brand’s popularity and trust among Indian consumers. Meanwhile, Japan remains Suzuki’s largest market, with 36% of the vehicles sold originating there. This global achievement is a testament to Suzuki’s commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.

At the heart of Suzuki’s success lies a lineup of top-selling models, including the iconic Alto series, the versatile WagonR, the agile Swift, the practical Every, the dependable Carry, the stylish Vitara, and the rugged Jimny series. Among these, the Alto, introduced in 1979, holds a special place, capturing 20% of Suzuki’s total sales. Particularly in India, the Alto has enjoyed unwavering popularity, making it one of the country’s best-selling hatchbacks.

Suzuki’s journey began in 1955 with the launch of Suzulight, Japan’s first mass-production mini vehicle. Over the years, Suzuki has continually adapted its product lines to cater to evolving customer needs and preferences. The company’s international expansion started in 1959 with the export of Suzulight, and Suzuki’s first overseas automobile production began in Pakistan in 1975. Subsequent expansions led to the establishment of manufacturing plants in India in 1983 and Hungary in 1992, marking Suzuki’s global footprint. Presently, Suzuki operates 15 automobile production facilities in 10 countries, including Japan, serving customers in 184 countries and regions across the globe.

Toshihiro Suzuki, the President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, expressed gratitude for the immense support from customers worldwide. He emphasized the pivotal role played by the Alto in Suzuki’s history and its mini-vehicle segment. Suzuki’s commitment to customer-focused value, a core principle passed down from its founder, remains unwavering. Toshihiro Suzuki reiterated the company’s dedication to providing eco-friendly products and services that support daily transportation needs globally, promising to stand by their customers as a reliable lifestyle partner.

Suzuki’s achievement of 80 million global sales reflects its enduring legacy of excellence and customer-centric approach. As Suzuki continues to innovate and provide high-quality vehicles, it stands poised for a future marked by further milestones and continued customer satisfaction.
