Confident Youth in Puthuppally Rally Behind Chandy Oommen for Upcoming Bypoll, Says Shafi Parambil

The Youth Congress state president, Shafi Parambil, expressed confidence that the young voters in the Puthuppally assembly constituency will support UDF candidate Chandy Oommen in the upcoming September 5 bypoll. Speaking at a campaign rally in Puthuppally, Parambil mentioned that the youth in the area have already made their decision.

He stated that there is a strong wave of dissatisfaction against the incumbent LDF government led by Pinarayi Vijayan, which is prevalent across the state and will likely impact the Puthuppally bypoll. Parambil pointed to the Thrikkakara bypoll results as evidence of the public’s discontent with the LDF government and noted that this sentiment has only grown since then.

Addressing concerns about the youth leaving the state to work abroad, Parambil emphasized that if the current government remains in power, more young people will continue to leave. He stressed the importance of creating opportunities for education and employment within the state.

Parambil criticized the Chief Minister and his family, alleging that corruption has become centralized under their leadership in Kerala.

Responding to criticism about Chandy Oommen’s limited political experience compared to opponents like CPM’s Jaick C Thomas, Parambil highlighted Chandy’s accomplishments within the Congress student and youth wings. He humorously remarked that Chandy’s political career has at least lasted a day longer than that of his opponents.

Opposition Leader V D Satheesan also spoke at the gathering and urged CPM workers in the Puthuppally constituency to vote for Chandy Oommen. Satheesan cautioned that if Chandy doesn’t win by a significant margin in the bypoll, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s arrogance could increase, potentially leading to the decline of the CPM in Kerala, similar to what happened in West Bengal. Therefore, he appealed to true communists in Puthuppally to vote for Chandy if they wish to see their party survive.
