The Onasadya organized by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan four months ago garnered attention for its elaborate menu, featuring 65 types of dishes and five varieties of payasams. The Chief Minister allocated an additional fund of Rs 7.86 lakh for the Onasadya, which had initially received Rs 19 lakh in November. The total cost for the feast amounted to Rs 26.86 lakh.

The feast, held at the assembly building on August 26, included a diverse array of dishes served by a private catering establishment. The menu boasted 65 courses, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of Kerala. Notably, five different types of payasams were part of the festive spread.

The Chief Minister’s Onasadya drew attention not only for its extensive menu but also for the additional funds allocated for the event. The response to a Right to Information (RTI) query revealed the expenditure details, stating that Rs 19,00,130 was spent on the feast, including payments to the hotel and catering services.

In addition to the assembly’s Onasadya, Speaker A N Shamseer also hosted a feast, contributing to the festive celebrations within the political community. Furthermore, as part of the New Year celebrations, the Chief Minister is set to organize another feast at Mascot Hotel on January 3, continuing the tradition of hosting elaborate and inclusive events.
