The Kerala government has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those killed in rain-related incidents

Thiruvananthapuram: As heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in Kerala, the state government has announced a Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia payment to the families of those killed in rain-related tragedies. K Rajan, Minister of Revenue, made the announcement as a primary compensation to the victims’ kin.

The minister told the media here on Sunday that the financial aid would be distributed as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the Central government would provide all assistance to Kerala to help it recover from the floods, and that the government is closely monitoring the situation.

In the state, the NDRF has deployed 11 teams for rescue, search, and relief operations.
