Mahatma Gandhi University Arts Festival ‘We, the People of India’ Set to Kick Off on Feb 26 in Kottayam

Kottayam is gearing up for the much-anticipated Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) annual Arts Festival, titled ‘We, the People of India,’ marking its return after a four-year hiatus. The festival, set to unfold from February 26 to March 3, will showcase diverse talents and artistic expressions across various domains.

Event Highlights

Dates: The seven-day festival is scheduled to commence on February 26 (Monday) and conclude on March 3 (Sunday).

Venues: Four main venues have been designated for the event, including Thirunakkara Ground, CMS College, Baselius College, and BCM College for Women.

Registration: Participants can register online until 5 pm on February 20. In-person registrations will be accepted until 5 pm on February 21, requiring students to submit hard copies of their applications at the MG University Union’s office.

Timings: The detailed programme schedule will be released following the conclusion of the registration process.

Festival Theme: The 2024 edition of the festival is themed ‘We, the People of India.’ Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan unveiled the festival’s logo and name during a ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this month. The festival’s name, suggested by Meenakshi of Muvattupuzha, underscores the responsibility of the younger generation in upholding India’s secular values. The logo, designed by Rahul Raghu of Ernakulam, complements the festival’s theme.
