Assam flood; 192 death and over 5 lakh affected

The flood-hit Assam reports 192 death and over 5 lakh affected across 10 districts of the state. The affected districts are Bajali, Biswanath, Cachar, Chirang, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar and Tamulpur, the report stated. As per the report issued on Sunday.

Cachar is the worst affected district with nearly 3.56 lakh sufferers, followed by Morigaon, where nearly 1.43 lakh people are affected. Around 34,723 people are still struggling due to the deluge. Currently, 390 villages have been submerged under water and over 7,368 hectares of crop areas are inundated, the ASDMA report stated. The authorities are running 114 relief camps in eight districts, where 38,751 people, including 11,719 children, are taking shelter at present, the report stated.
