Kerala Braces for Heavy Rainfall: IMD Issues Alerts for Several Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in various districts of Kerala in the coming days. On Saturday and Sunday, the state is expected to experience heavy rainfall, with a yellow alert issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts on Saturday.

The IMD further cautioned that isolated places in the state could witness extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday, prompting an orange alert in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts. Additionally, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad, and Malappuram districts may also face heavy rain on Sunday, as per the warning. This weather advisory comes at a time when the state is already dealing with the aftermath of recent heavy rainfall, causing damage in various regions, including neighboring Tamil Nadu.
