Formation of Expert Panel to Investigate Vehicle Fires

An expert panel will be established to analyze the fire risk associated with vehicles. This resolution was reached during a meeting overseen by the Transport Minister. The committee will examine incidents from the past two years and address the issue of vehicle modifications through stringent measures.

Under the leadership of Transport Minister Antony Raju, a high-level meeting was convened to address the growing concern of vehicle-related fire accidents. An expert committee, led by the Transport Commissioner and comprising automotive specialists, will conduct a comprehensive examination of similar accidents that have occurred in Kerala over the past two years.

The meeting also acknowledged that improper alterations to vehicles have contributed to the surge in accidents. Stricter actions against vehicle modifications were decided upon. Additionally, there are intentions to raise insurance premiums for habitual road rule violators, while reducing premiums for law-abiding individuals. The meeting concluded with a determination to enhance awareness about preventing accidents.
