Cyclone Yaas to form over Bay of Bengal around May 25
Thiruvananthapuram: A low-pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman sea and adjoining the east-central Bay of Bengal around May 22 and intensify into a cyclonic storm around May 25, alerted India Meteorological Department.
The cyclone which likely to form over the Bay of Bengal will be called ‘Yaas’. The cyclone is likely to move northwestwards and reach the West Bengal-Odisha coasts around May 26 evening.
The hurricane will be known as ‘Yas’ as suggested by Oman. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Kerala as a result of the cyclone.
