The Kerala Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2023 were announced on Thursday, with Haritha Savithri’s novel Sin receiving the accolade for Best Novel. Kalpetta Narayanan’s Thiranjedutha Kavithakal earned the award for Best Poetry, while N Rajan’s Udaya Arts and Sports Club was honored as the Best Short Story. Gireesh PC Palam’s E For Oedipus was named the Best Play.
In other categories, B Rajeev’s Indiaye Veendedukkal won Best Scholarly Literature, P Pavithran’s Bhoopadam Thalathirikkumbol secured the Best Literary Criticism award, and K Venu’s Oranveshathinte Katha was recognized as the Best Biography/Autobiography.
AM Sreedharan’s Katha Kadhike was awarded Best Translated Work, while Nandini Menon’s Amcho Bastar won Best Travelogue. Gracie’s Penkuttiyum Koottarum received the Best Children’s Literature award.
Additionally, MR Raghava Warrier and CL Jose were honored with the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship. KV Kumaran, PK Gopi, Prema Jayakumar, Bakkalam Damodaran, M Raghavan, and Rajan Thiruvothu were recognized for their Overall Contributions to literature.
