Tata Motors, through its subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has announced the commencement of deliveries for the locally-manufactured Range Rover Sport in India. This move marks a significant expansion in the company’s local manufacturing capabilities, with the entire Range Rover portfolio now being produced domestically.
Previously, in May, Jaguar Land Rover had revealed plans to produce both the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models at Tata Motors’ Pune facility. This local manufacturing initiative not only supports the company’s growth in the Indian market but also emphasizes the increasing importance of local production in the automotive sector.
The new Range Rover Sport is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants and is priced at Rs 1.40 crore (ex-showroom). This development reflects a major milestone for Tata Motors and JLR, highlighting the expansion of their local manufacturing footprint to include six vehicles in their portfolio.
Rajan Amba, Managing Director of JLR India, expressed his enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “It’s a significant milestone as we begin the deliveries of the locally manufactured Range Rover Sport. With this, the complete Range Rover portfolio is now made-in-India and the local manufacturing footprint expands to six vehicles in the portfolio.”
The introduction of the locally-manufactured Range Rover Sport is expected to boost Tata Motors’ presence in the luxury SUV market, catering to the growing demand for high-end vehicles in India.
