Zoom has officially launched its phone service in India, beginning with the city of Pune, marking the company’s first step toward enhancing business communications in the region. Following Zoom India’s receipt of a Unified License from the Department of Telecommunications in April 2023, this cloud-based phone service allows businesses to acquire local Indian phone numbers and streamline their communication processes.
What Is Zoom Phone?
Zoom Phone is a cloud-based private branch exchange (PBX) system designed to improve communication for businesses, particularly those with dispersed workforces. This service enables companies to manage both inbound and outbound calls via the public switched telephone network (PSTN), replacing traditional PBX systems. It provides a single platform for communication needs, helping businesses unify their communication strategies whether employees are in-office or working remotely.
Key Features and Integration
One of the main benefits of Zoom Phone is its seamless integration with Zoom’s existing collaborative tools, such as Zoom Workplace, which leverages AI-driven features for efficient workflow management. The platform is compatible with several business applications, hardware providers, and contact center partners, making it an adaptable solution for businesses of all sizes, including multinational corporations. This makes it easier for existing Zoom customers to adopt the service as an add-on to their communication infrastructure.
As the service expands to other regions like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and Delhi, Zoom’s local investment and focus on compliance are expected to transform business communication across India. With this new offering, Zoom aims to deliver a scalable and efficient communication solution tailored to India’s market needs.
