The Kottayam Police have identified the key suspect in the Thiruvathukkal double murder case as Amit, a former domestic worker originally from Assam. According to the investigation, Amit was previously employed at the home of the victims and is believed to have committed the murders as an act of revenge.
Amit was tracked to a lodge near the railway station, where he checked in after committing the crime. CCTV footage obtained by the police clearly shows Amit entering the lodge shortly after the murder occurred, further strengthening the case against him. Investigators revealed that Amit had a grudge against the victims, particularly after he was dismissed from employment due to theft.
Earlier, Amit had worked at the Indraprastha auditorium managed by the family. He was caught stealing a mobile phone belonging to Vijayakumar, one of the murder victims, and subsequently spent about five months in jail. This previous conflict is now seen as the primary motive behind the brutal act.
After the murder, Amit allegedly stole three mobile phones belonging to the victims, which had four SIM cards in total. All the phones are currently switched off. Investigators believe he may have disposed of the phones and a hard disk somewhere to avoid leaving digital traces. The recovered CCTV footage and further forensic examination are expected to play a crucial role in building the case. Police continue to search for the suspect and gather evidence, as the investigation intensifies.
