
Indian Tennis player Radhika Yadav’s mother Manju, has said that her father, Deepak, who shot her dead, was “obsessive” in nature and wanted her to shut down her tennis academy. According to the reports that the police have recorded the victim’s mother’s statement. Sources revealed that Radhika’s mother described her husband as obsessive and cited an instance where he scolded her for speaking to her brother-in-law. Sources say the mother also mentioned that someone from their village commented on how Deepak must be enjoying his daughter’s earnings, which further enraged him.
For the past three days, Deepak had been angry and repeatedly demanded that his daughter shut down her tennis academy business, the mother told the police. She added that during this period, he expressed his desire to kill her. The couple had been having frequent arguments over the last three days, as shared by sources close to the investigation.
Radhika Yadav’s father, Deepak Yadav, has now been placed in one-day police custody by a local court in Gurugram on Friday. The court deemed the case a “serious matter” requiring an “in-depth” investigation. Radhika, the 25-year-old former tennis player, was shot dead by her father at the family’s double-storey home in the upscale Sushant Lok area of Gurugram on Thursday. Deepak Yadav (49) later confessed to killing his daughter and was arrested.
The police say they were investigating all possible angles in Radhika’s murder, including what her mother was doing when the incident occurred. According to an FIR registered based on the complaint of the deceased’s uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, Radhika’s mother was present on the first floor of the house when the shooting took place. Meanwhile, Vinod Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 police station in Gurugram, has ruled out love or honour killing angles.
Sources say Deepak Yadav confessed that he shot Radhika because of was taunted for living off her income. Police, however, in an official statement, claimed that the tennis academy Radhika ran was the bone of contention between the father and the daughter. Deepak Yadav, who allegedly shot dead her daughter, owns multiple properties in Gurugram and earns nearly Rs 15 lakh in rent, according to his family members.
