A major espionage network working for Pakistan has been exposed in India, with 13 individuals arrested in the past two weeks for allegedly leaking sensitive military and strategic information to Pakistani intelligence officials. Among those arrested is Moti Ram Jat, a CRPF Assistant Sub-Inspector, who had been posted in Pahalgam before being transferred just six days prior to a deadly terror attack. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), he began leaking classified information as early as 2023, including operational strategies, troop movements, and details of key military establishments.
The arrests span several states, including Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh. Notably, a popular YouTuber from Hisar, Jyoti Malhotra, known for her travel content, was also detained for suspected links with Pakistani handlers, though reports suggest she did not access defense-related data. Other arrests include a 32-year-old widow, a political science student, and former security guards, all of whom allegedly shared critical military information in exchange for money or Pakistani visas.
Investigations revealed that many of these individuals maintained contact with former officials of the Pakistani High Commission, used online money transfers, and even developed custom mobile apps to communicate with ISI operatives. The widespread nature of this spy ring underscores a serious breach in India’s national security, prompting heightened surveillance and ongoing investigations into possible wider links.
