Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram today to inaugurate the Vizhinjam International Seaport, marking a significant moment for Kerala’s infrastructure development. After landing at the Thiruvananthapuram airport, the Prime Minister will spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
On the following day, around 10 AM, Modi will board a special Indian Air Force helicopter from the Pangode military camp and fly to Vizhinjam. Upon arrival at the port, he will visit the Port Operations Centre, where he will observe the port’s computerized control systems and advanced cranes in action. His schedule includes a brief stay and he is expected to return by noon.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in and around Vizhinjam in preparation for the event. A trial security run was conducted yesterday, and top police officials, including the City Police Commissioner, assessed the arrangements. Approximately 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across the city and port surroundings to ensure safety.
Event arrangements are nearing completion, with separate enclosures and seating arrangements for VVIPs, BVIPs, and the general public. A 20-member Special Protection Group (SPG) team from Delhi is overseeing the security operations. The public venue includes large LED screens to allow over 10,000 attendees to view the live proceedings of the inaugural event.
