Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Pune, Maharashtra, where he will inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate various projects valued at over Rs 22,600 crore. Among the highlights of his visit is the flagging off of the Metro train service running between the district court and Swargate in Pune. However, Mumbai continues to experience heavy rainfall, which has caused significant traffic disruptions. Within a five-hour window starting Wednesday evening, over 200 mm of rain drenched parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas, halting local trains, and causing the diversion of at least 14 incoming flights.
In a separate incident, a branch of Axis Bank in West Delhi experienced a scare when a teenager entered and threatened to detonate explosives if money was not handed over. Police swiftly responded, overpowering the suspect, and no explosives were found in his possession.
Meanwhile, in the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, the Election Commission of India reported a voter turnout of 57.03 percent till 11:45 pm. Budgam saw 62.98 percent turnout, Ganderbal 62.51 percent, Poonch 73.80 percent, Rajouri 70.95 percent, Reasi 74.70 percent, and Srinagar 29.81 percent.
