In response to the ongoing debate over the Agnipath scheme, the Indian government has announced a 10 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in constable vacancies within the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). This decision, made on Thursday, includes the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Some forces will also provide short-duration training to ex-Agniveers before deployment in border areas.
The Home Minister’s Office tweeted that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will reserve 10 percent of vacancies in CAPFs and Assam Rifles for Agniveers who have completed four years under the Agnipath Scheme. Additionally, a three-year age relaxation beyond the upper age limit will be granted to ex-Agniveers, with a five-year relaxation for the first batch.
CISF Director General Nina Singh announced that arrangements for recruiting ex-Agniveers have been finalized, reserving 10 percent of constable positions for them. Ex-Agniveers will receive relaxation in the Physical Efficiency Test and age concessions—five years for the initial batch and three years thereafter.
She emphasized CISF’s commitment to maximizing benefits for ex-Agniveers, expecting their recruitment to enhance operational efficiency by bringing capable, dedicated, and disciplined personnel into the force. Similar provisions have been implemented by other agencies like BSF, CRPF, SSB, and RPF.
