Dubai Launches AI Platform ‘Salama’ for 2-Minute Visa Renewals

GDRFA’s AI-Driven System to Simplify Visa Processes for Residents and Tourists

Dubai has unveiled ‘Salama,’ an AI-powered digital platform designed to streamline visa renewals for residents. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) announced that the platform allows users to renew their residence visas in under two minutes. By automatically recognizing user details and displaying visa statuses, Salama eliminates the need for long queues and lengthy paperwork.

Residents can now renew their visas and those of their dependents with just a few clicks. The system processes requests instantly, allowing users to download updated documents directly. Previously, this process took 1-3 hours, depending on document verification. Galeb Abdullah Muhammad Hassan Al Majeed, Director of Data Science and AI, emphasized that the process now takes only 1-2 minutes if documents are in order.

In its first phase, Salama focuses on resident visa renewals and cancellations. However, the GDRFA plans to expand the platform’s services to include tourists and visitors in the second phase. Future updates will also introduce smart channels and GDRFA DXP applications for companies.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Ahammad Al Marri, GDRFA Dubai General Director, highlighted that the initiative is part of the UAE’s broader digital transformation efforts. Salama represents a significant step toward simplifying visa processes, enhancing efficiency, and improving user experience for residents and tourists alike.
