Navya Nair Shares Her Struggles with Nightmares That Disturb Her Peace

The Actress Opens Up About Her Lifelong Battle with Frightening Dreams and Their Impact on Her Sleep

Navya Nair recently revealed her ongoing struggle with vivid nightmares that have disrupted her sleep since childhood. She discussed her experiences in a personal vlog, hoping to connect with others who may also suffer from sleep disruptions caused by distressing dreams. Navya explained that her nightmares are so intense that they often prevent her from going back to sleep, leaving her awake and unsettled during the night.

In her own words, she shared, “I often wake suddenly from horrifying dreams. Even if I try to calm down by washing my face, the fear from the nightmare lingers, making it difficult to fall asleep again. Sometimes, if I wake around two in the morning, I know I won’t sleep again for hours. To pass the time, I’ll read or watch videos on my phone because I’m afraid to close my eyes. It’s only when morning light appears that I feel a sense of relief and can drift off peacefully, as if the daylight has dispelled the fear.”

Navya recounted one particularly eerie dream where she finds herself in a barren, surreal landscape with cliffs and rocks. In the dream, she is surrounded by familiar faces—her parents, actors Mohanlal and Prithviraj, and cinematographer P. Sukumar. A strange creature, with bubble-like skin, dark bulging eyes, and sharp triangular teeth, appears and seems to be specifically after her. “It’s terrifying, though I know it sounds odd now,” she explained. In the dream, her companions—whom she fondly calls Sukuettan, Raju Chettan, and Lalettan—try to protect her from this bizarre creature. Despite being unsettling, Navya shared that opening up about her nightmares has brought her some relief, and she hopes it encourages others dealing with similar sleep issues to seek comfort or share their experiences.
