Advocate Niranjana Naduvathra, a resident of Thiruvalla, made headlines by spending ₹7.85 lakh to secure a fancy registration number for her Land Rover Defender HSE. The intense auction, held by the Thiruvalla Regional Transport Office (RTO), resulted in Naduvathra obtaining the coveted number KL 27 M 7777. This amount is one of the highest ever spent for a vehicle number in Kerala, surpassing actor-director Prithviraj’s previous record of ₹7.5 lakh for a registration number in Kochi.
Niranjana Naduvathra, the Director of Naduvathra Traders, a company involved in supplying materials for national highway projects, fulfilled her long-held dream with this purchase. She highlighted that revenue from such auctions could significantly contribute to developmental initiatives by the government. In addition to Naduvathra Traders, she also leads Earthex Ventures Pvt. Ltd., which operates in the quarries and crushers business.
While her ₹7.85 lakh bid is noteworthy, the most expensive registration number in Kerala remains KL 01 CK 1, which was sold for ₹31 lakh to KS Balagopal from Thiruvananthapuram. Other notable auctioned numbers include KL 01 CB 1 at ₹18 lakh and KL 08 BL 1 at ₹17.15 lakh.
Niranjana Naduvathra’s record-breaking bid of ₹7.85 lakh for the fancy registration number KL 27 M 7777 highlights the growing trend of individuals willing to invest in personalized vehicle numbers. Her success in the auction not only fulfilled a personal dream but also reflects how such auctions contribute to government revenue, which can be directed towards developmental projects. With the precedent set by this high-profile purchase, Kerala continues to see rising interest in exclusive registration numbers, reinforcing the value placed on individuality and prestige among vehicle owners.
