MakeMyTrip has unveiled an innovative part-payment feature, enabling users to book international flights by paying only a portion of the fare upfront. This new option has gained strong traction among travelers, especially those booking long-haul or short-haul flights costing over ₹1 lakh. The initiative is part of MakeMyTrip’s ongoing efforts to make travel more accessible and user-friendly through technological advancements and customer-centric solutions.
According to Saujanya Shrivastava, COO of Flights, Holidays & Gulf at MakeMyTrip, the feature reflects the company’s commitment to simplifying travel experiences. “Our mission is to make travel more accessible. This industry-first feature empowers customers by providing flexibility and convenience in booking international flights,” he said.
The part-payment feature allows users to confirm bookings by paying 10–40% of the total fare upfront, with the percentage varying based on factors like the airline, travel route, and booking window. Travelers can pay the balance either within 45 days of booking or before the travel date, without incurring extra charges. This flexibility is especially beneficial for families and groups, reducing the financial strain of upfront payments.
Complementing this new feature, MakeMyTrip offers additional services such as ‘Zero Cancellation’ for unforeseen cancellations, ‘Fare Lock’ to secure ticket prices for up to 15 days, and ‘Free Date Change,’ allowing rescheduling up to two hours before departure. These offerings collectively enhance the booking experience, making international travel more convenient and stress-free.
