WhatsApp for Android is reportedly testing a new feature for its Meta AI chatbot, allowing users to send voice messages to the AI. This feature, currently in beta for version 2.24.16.10, enables users to communicate with Meta AI via voice, with the AI responding in text format.
The new voice message icon, found next to the text field in the chat interface, is similar to the ones seen in other chats and groups. Users enrolled in the Google Play Beta program will be able to access this feature. Although Gadgets 360 staff couldn’t confirm its availability, it is expected to be rolled out to a broader user base soon.
This feature could prove beneficial for users who are on the go and find it easier to speak rather than type out long messages. Currently, Meta AI is multimodal but does not support audio generation or processing, making this update a significant step forward.
Additionally, WhatsApp for Android is also testing a feature that allows users to quickly react to messages by double-tapping them, which will add a heart emoji by default. This feature, already available on Instagram and Facebook, is in beta and has no confirmed release date yet.
