Amal, 27, from Ponkunnam, Kottayam, embarked on a journey to build his dream home while staying within budget. Faced with the limitations of his old, 50-year-old house, Amal, who works in IT in Kochi, decided to construct a new home in his village to honor his parents’ wish to remain close to their roots. The result is a beautiful house featuring a colonial design with a sloping truss roof and traditional roof tiles, incorporating recycled tiles for additional storage.
The house, spanning 1,500 square feet, is designed with a semi-open layout to maximize space. The front wall mimics natural stone, while the interior features matte-finished concrete grey tiles and a cohesive color scheme. Privacy is prioritized with a cozy dining area and a well-planned kitchen with PVC cabinets and granite countertops. With three bedrooms, each with an attached bathroom and a total cost of Rs 35 lakh, Amal’s home demonstrates that thorough planning and budgeting can bring a dream home to life without overspending.
