Veteran actor Satish Shah passes away due to kidney failure at 74

The late actor became a household name after he starred in Kundan Shah's 1983 cult classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro', in which he played the character of the corrupt Municipal Commissioner D'Mello.

Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his roles in TV shows like ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhahi’, and films such as ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaar’, ‘Main Hoon Na’ and more, has passed away at the age of 74. As per the report, the actor was battling kidney-related issues. His demise was confirmed by the veteran filmmaker Ashoke Pandit. Shah was reportedly battling kidney-related issues.

Born on June 25, 1951, the actor has worked in several movies like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ (2000), ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003), ‘Fanaa’ (2006), and ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007). He was last seen in the movie ‘Humshakals’ as Mr Y.M. Raj. The movie was released in theatres in the year 2014.

According to the reports, the actor was a Kutchi Gujarati from Mandvi. He graduated from Xavier’s College and later went on to join the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. In the year 2015, the actor was appointed as a member of the Film and Television Institute of India society.

Satish Shah was married to designer Madhu Shah. Bollywood actress Kajol mourns the loss of veteran actor Satish Shah. Apart from Kajol, other Bollywood celebrities such as Johnny Lever, Ashok Pandit, Ameesha Patel, Karan Johar, Madhur Bhandarkar and others have expressed their condolences for the actor’s sudden demise.
