The highly anticipated Malayalam film Thekku Vadakku, starring Vinayakan and Suraj Venjaramoodu, has released its official trailer, promising a hilarious comedy-drama filled with ego clashes and quirky moments. The trailer dropped on social media on September 30, with the film’s release scheduled for October 4, after being postponed from its original September 20 date. Directed by Prem Sankar, known for his critically acclaimed film Randuper, this new film brings together two prominent actors in what appears to be an unconventional relationship between their characters.
Vinayakan plays Madhavan, a retired KSEB engineer, while Suraj Venjaramoodu portrays Shankunni, a sawmill owner. Their personalities clash, setting up a comedy that revolves around their relationship. The makers have described the film as a unique take on human interactions, with ego playing a central role.
The film also gained attention with its series of teasers, one of which cleverly recreated a classic comedy gag inspired by Charlie Chaplin. The promo mimicked a situational comedy where two rivals accidentally meet and, upon recognizing each other, exit the scene in frustration. This has been hilariously adapted to the dynamic between Vinayakan and Suraj’s characters.
Thekku Vadakku is based on the short story Rathri Kaaval (Night Watch) and has a screenplay by S Hareesh, known for his work on Jallikattu and Churuli. Filmed in the picturesque town of Muttikulangara in Palakkad, Kerala, the movie promises an entertaining mix of drama, comedy, and rivalry, supported by a talented ensemble cast including Melvin Babu, Kottayam Ramesh, and Merin Jose.
