Vijay Deverakonda has sparked excitement among fans by calling for a unique “Podusthunna Poddumeeda X Coldplay” mashup. This came after Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, humorously claimed Telangana roots during the band’s concert in Ahmedabad as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. For those unfamiliar, “Podusthunna Poddumeeda,” penned by activist Gaddar, is a powerful anthem of the Telangana movement, symbolizing the struggles and aspirations of its people.
Coldplay wrapped up their five-show India tour on January 26 with a grand performance at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. During the concert, Chris Martin surprised the audience by joking about his Indian heritage. In a viral moment, he said, “All four of us were born in India, so we’re already an Indian band.” Pointing to bassist Guy Berryman, he added, “He looks like he’s from Scotland, but he’s from Tamil Nadu.” Chris also claimed to be from Telangana, while introducing drummer Will Champion as “100 per cent Gujarati.”
Reacting to this light-hearted banter, Vijay Deverakonda shared an Instagram story with a clip from the concert, expressing his admiration for Chris Martin. He wrote, “Chris Martin ❤️ welcome! Someone needs to make a Podusthunna Poddumeeda X Coldplay mashup,” blending global music with regional pride. Fans are now eagerly anticipating such a fusion that celebrates the intersection of local culture and international stardom.
