Audi India Phases Out A8 L and RS5 Sportback: What You Need to Know

Discontinuation Marks the End of Global Life Cycles for the Luxury Sedan and Performance Model

Audi India has made a quiet exit for two of its models from the Indian market — the luxury A8 L sedan and the performance-oriented RS5 Sportback. Both cars, which were imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs), have come to the end of their global production runs. The A8 L, launched in India in 2020, and the RS5 Sportback, introduced a year later in 2021, were both priced at Rs 1.63 crore and Rs 1.13 crore (ex-showroom) respectively, before being discontinued.

The A8 L, which debuted internationally in 2017 and received a facelift in 2022, combined luxury and technology with features like Matrix LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, and rear seats with massage functions. Powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged engine, it provided a smooth and powerful driving experience. This model’s departure leaves a gap in Audi’s flagship sedan lineup in India.

Similarly, the RS5 Sportback, which paired high performance with practicality, boasted a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine, offering 444 bhp of power. Despite its strong performance credentials, the RS5 Sportback is no longer part of Audi’s offerings in India. While these two models are now discontinued, Audi India remains focused on other models, preparing to launch the RS Q8 facelift on February 17, 2025, to continue its momentum in the performance SUV segment.
