New Delhi: Delhi woke up to yet another day of dense fog, significantly disrupting flight and train services for the third consecutive day. The heavy fog layer, coupled with cold waves, caused visibility issues at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, where several flights faced delays. Train schedules were also affected, leaving passengers stranded.
Although take-offs and landings are continuing at the airport, flights not equipped with CAT III technology are likely to face challenges. Authorities have advised passengers to stay updated on flight information through their respective airlines to minimize inconvenience.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a partly cloudy sky for the day, with dense fog expected during the morning hours in some areas. The early morning surface wind is predicted to blow at less than 4 kmph from the southeast, gradually increasing to 8–10 kmph by the afternoon, before reducing to below 6 kmph in the evening and night. Smog and shallow to moderate fog are also expected to persist during the evening and nighttime hours.
Sunday’s maximum and minimum temperatures are estimated to settle at 18°C and 10°C, respectively. With disrupted transportation and cold conditions, the residents of Delhi are advised to take precautions and plan their travel accordingly.
