The first budget session of the third Modi government kicks off today, with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to table the Economic Survey Report in Parliament. The budget is anticipated to include measures aimed at boosting economic growth, investment, and employment. Key bills, such as the Coffee (Promotion and Development) and Rubber (Promotion and Development) bills, significant for Kerala, will be introduced. Additionally, the budget for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be presented. The session will run until August 12.
In a pre-session all-party meeting held yesterday, the ‘India’ front parties brought up several issues, including the NEET exam controversy, the Uttar Pradesh government’s order to display eatery owners’ names along travel routes, and the demand for appointing a Lok Sabha deputy speaker from the opposition. The Congress specifically called for a parliamentary debate on the NEET controversy.
