Operation Mahadev: 3 terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack avenged, Amit Shah

Meanwhile, the brutal attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, killed around 26 innocent civilians.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday confirmed that the terrorists behind the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir have been neutralised in a joint operation by Indian security forces.

Addressing the Lok Sabha, Shah said, “All three terrorists – Suleman, Afghan, and Jibran – were killed in yesterday’s operation.” He added that individuals who had supplied food to the terrorists had been detained earlier, and once the terrorists’ bodies were brought to Srinagar, they were positively identified by those in custody.

Speaking further, the Home Minister elaborated on Operation Mahadev, under which the encounter took place. Shah confirmed that Suleman alias Faizal was an A-category commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Afghan, and Jibran were also A-grade LeT terrorists. All three were involved in the brutal killing of civilians in the Baisaran Valley. The joint operation was conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police, demonstrating what Shah described as “exemplary coordination and swift action”.

Shah reiterated the government’s firm stance on terrorism, stating that those behind such heinous attacks will be tracked down and neutralised, and measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
