
In his recent Mann Ki Baat episode, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s burgeoning presence in the global animation and gaming industry, recognizing the country’s contributions to creativity and innovation in these fields. Speaking on the 115th broadcast of his monthly radio program, PM Modi highlighted the growing influence of animation and its presence in various aspects of modern technology, from smartphones to gaming consoles and virtual reality. He expressed pride in India’s achievements in animation, calling it an emerging force in the world.
PM Modi acknowledged the global fanbase that Indian animated characters like Chhota Bheem, Krishna, Motu-Patlu, and Bal Hanuman have garnered. He attributed their popularity to uniquely Indian storytelling that resonates worldwide, reflecting the cultural richness Indian youth are embedding into their creative works. According to the Prime Minister, Indian animation and gaming are not just entertaining audiences but are also driving growth across industries, including tourism, which is now using virtual reality to enhance visitor experiences.
He called on the nation to celebrate World Animation Day on October 28, supporting the goal of making India a global animation powerhouse. Modi also highlighted the impact of Indian talent on international platforms, particularly the contributions of animator Harinarayan Rajeev in recent Hollywood films like Spider-Man and Transformers. He praised the expanding popularity of Indian-made games and shared insights from his interactions with leading game developers, applauding their creativity and the “wave of creative energy” in India’s gaming sector.
